Why tour with Route 66 tours?
Join Route 66 Podcast host, Anthony Arno, as he leads a 13 day tour along the most famous highway in the world – Route 66! The tour is a self drive tour and unlike other tours where guests stay every night at Holiday Inn type hotels, the tour includes staying at some of the most authentic accommodations along the Mother Road. The list for lodging includes stops at The Palmer House, America’s grandest hotel (rebuilt after Chicago fire), a 19th Century Fred Harvey Hotel, boutique hotels, vintage neon motels, a no tell-motel where the adjoining room has been converted into a private garage for your car, and even a wigwam.
Each morning a short briefing will be given highlighting featured sites of the day ahead. During this time I will review key stops featured in your Route 66 guide that I have written based on my personal experiences reporting about and traveling the road. Depending on your interests, a daily schedule will be discussed to make the most out of your day based on personal interests. Guests will travel at their own pace during the day, but stops will be scheduled at sites included in the tour package.
Route 66 Tour includes:
- 12 overnight accommodations in wide range of establishments
- A total of 17 meals including breakfast every day
- Chicago Architectual Riverboat tour
- St. Louis Arch National Park
- Meremac Caverns
- Will Rogers Memorial
- Coleman Theater Tour
- Route 66 Museum
- Albuquerque Tram to top of Sandia Mountain
- Painted Desert National Park
- Grand Canyon National Park
A total of 17 meals will be provided at well established Route 66 eateries, including meals at landmark Route 66 hotels, lunches at eateries along the route that have been around for decades, and even a few scheduled snack stops. The only dinners being provided will be at both the beginning and end of the tour, as most people prefer to explore their personal food favorites based on the city we’re in for the evening. On days where smaller motels do not offer a standard breakfast, a continental breakfast will be available with coffee upon departure from the motel. Daily snack bags and water will also be provided to satisfy those munchies during the day while driving down America’s Main Street.
